My journey working with individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities began when I was a sophomore in college; I found a job as a tutor/caretaker online working for an adolescent with autism. At the time, I had not heard of autism and went in with a "how hard could this be?" attitude. This was the catalyst for my first love, professionally, that is. I worked in-home with families and went on to work at facilities that housed adults with special needs. To this day, providing guidance and support to individuals with varying needs is a passion of mine and something I love doing; whether you're looking for counseling, resources, or consultation, I would love to hear from you! I have over 15 years experience working with and supporting individuals impacted by autism (whether it be the person on the spectrum, their family members, teachers, caretakers, etc.) When working with individuals with varying needs, areas of specialty include:
Self-Awareness
Emotion-Regulation
Sensory Sensitivities
Strengths-Focused Support
Familial Education & Support
Check out this podcast where I discuss working with & supporting autistic individuals! Note: this is more of an educational resource for individuals who work with families with varying needs.
